The Meadow Fern cuff takes inspiration from the way fern fronds curve and unfurl as they emerge from moisture-rich ground. Native to North American wetlands, Meadow Fern thrives among marshes and damp meadows, where its layered foliage creates soft texture against the surrounding landscape. Its vigorous growth brings a natural sense of renewal and movement to the design.

A broad fern frond cast in bronze curls around the wrist, transforming the plant’s familiar feathered form into a sculptural cuff. The overlapping foliage preserves the irregular edges and richly textured surface of the original frond, enhanced by a softly patinated finish. Bold in scale yet entirely botanical in form, this Meadow Fern cuff creates a striking focal point and brings the feeling of a fern naturally wrapping around the wrist.

About our Jewelry

Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.

Michael Michaud

Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin and became a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.

In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewellery which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
