The English Bluebells brooch captures the plant in a more complete botanical form, from the leaves gathered close to the ground to the arching stem of hanging flowers above. English bluebells are an enduring feature of British woodland in spring, their delicate blooms appearing year after year in expansive carpets of blue. This faithful return has helped connect the flower with constancy, devotion and lasting affection.

Hand-patinated bronze leaves form the base of the brooch, while a slender stem curves above them carrying a cluster of bluebell flowers cast in glass. Tiny 24k gold-plated pollen details provide a subtle contrast within the blooms. Closely echoing the natural silhouette of a flowering bluebell plant, this English Bluebells brooch has a strong sculptural presence and creates a striking botanical focal point on a coat, jacket or scarf.

About our Jewelry

Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.

Michael Michaud

Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin and became a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.

In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewellery which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
